How would you describe the character of the Lussa Gin?
Lussa Gin is a zesty, aromatic dry gin using fresh and zingly lemon thyme balanced with juniper and a touch of warmth from coriander, all bound together with the smoothness of rosehip and rose petals.
What is special about the Lussa Gin?
We are three women who grow and gather our botanicals from the Isle of Jura, off the west coast of Scotland. Uniquely we freeze the majority of our botanicals, rather than drying them to create a zesty, aromatic gin.
Jura has a population of just over 200 people and is a two ferry journey from the mainland.
The best Gin & Tonic
For a perfect Gin & Tonic with the Lussa Gin we highly recommend the tonicwater Walter Gregor`s Classic Tonic Water
As a garnish we suggest:
Gefrorene LimettenzesteLemon Thyme
We love a Walter Gregors tonic, a wedge of frozen lemon and a sprig of lemon thyme or a rose petal.
about the Lussa Gin
This many bottles use more botanicals than Lussa Gin. In terms of price, this gin is in the midrange with 15 botanicals.
This botanical is only used in Lussa Gin.
How did the idea for the Lussa Gin come about?
We got together in 2015 as we share a love of the place, of growing plants and of gin.
We start with a base spirit, made with grain then add our spring water in the 100 litre alembic, copper pot still called Hamish. Most of our botanicals go into the pot with the exception of our tender flower petals like the roses and the honeysuckle. The distillation takes about 12 hours and is then left to mature for a week before diluting to 42%.
